Being the first Thai Chinese American baby in my family born in the United States demanded continual navigation of cross-cultural situations and belongingness. It’s taken me decades to come to understand my experiences of assimilation to whiteness and the unique nuances of being Thai Chinese in the racial category of Asian American. It’s a continual practice to decolonize my consciousness and reclaim my ancestral wisdom. I come to this work informed not only by my life experiences, but also through my professional and academic work to understand racial identity, spirituality, healing and transformation.
