Embodied Healing
We walk through the world as embodied beings. We are physical bodies with many classifications assigned to us through our societal systems. We are limited or privileged based on our skin color, race, ethnicity, class status, gender, sexuality and so much more. These external classifications inform our experiences and influence how we develop mentally, physically, and spiritually. How we see ourselves, how we move in the world, and what the world allows us to achieve is all translated through our embodiment. Our bodies hold within our skin, our cells, our organs, our emotions an energy that is meant to be processed and metabolized.
I am a certified medical qigong practitioner. Qigong is a mindfulness and movement based energy cultivation practice used individually and with groups. I trained with Dr. Daju Suzanne Friedman at the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, California. I am also a graduate and apprentice teacher of Practice in Transformative Action at the East Bay Meditation Center. It is at the East Bay Meditation Center where I took the Great Vow for Mindful Activists dedicating myself to create a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world through practice, self-care, mindfulness, healing, and joy. My teacher Mushim Patricia Ikeda wrote a powerful article about the Vow Not To Burn Out on Lions Roar. You can learn more here >>.
Your body is your greatest teacher.
We often are not taught how to move our energy so that our emotions, mental state and overall wellness are balanced. Through my training, I bring embodied healing with the practices of qigong and mindfulness as a way to bring self-care medicine to individuals and communities. I incorporate a healing approach to support my group and one-on-one work. My embodiment approach recognizes that personal transformation requires an inherent link to social justice and an understanding of systems of oppression to be effective.
I facilitate in-person and online qigong spaces for community healing. Please reach out if you would like to work with me in this capacity. I have brought qigong to staff retreat spaces, as an introduction for intergenerational learning, and to community clinic events. Some organizations like to work with me on a quarterly basis so their employees and community members have a regular space of practice. I welcome your partnership in building a customized embodied healing plan.
